The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art is proud to announce the first annual Wicked Wausau 5K Fun Run, a Halloween-themed run/walk fundraiser that will be held in downtown Wausau on October 26th. The race is family-friendly, untimed, and runners are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. The Wicked Wausau kicks off at sunset with a scenic 5K course that runs along the new Wausau Riverwalk and concludes with an after-party at WMOCA, complete with a bonfire, live music, refreshments, and an awards ceremony for “best costume.” All proceeds from the race will fund future exhibitions at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art.

“Our success is a testament to the people of Wausau, and this race is our way of paying tribute to that,” says Museum Director, David Hummer. “To us, the Wicked Wausau is more than a fundraiser – We’re bringing our community together to celebrate the creative spirit of this city, to reflect on two successful years of exhibitions, and to herald the bright future of art in central Wisconsin.”

The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art is a completely volunteer-run organization dedicated to bringing world class exhibitions to the people of Northern Wisconsin. In the two years since our doors opened, WMOCA has garnered international attention as a hub for figurative art, featuring works by nationally & internationally established artists. WMOCA integrates exhibitions, performances, collections, and educational programs to excite, challenge, and enlighten our visitors. Our goal is to unleash our region’s creative energy and to engage a broad and diverse audience in conversation about how art connects us, allowing us to grow and thrive as a community. Runners can register online at wmoca.org, or sign up at the museum during our business hours for the Wausau Festival of Arts, September 7th and 8th.
