The Wausau Club, built and established in 1901 has a rich history of being one of the most desirable and elegant venues for people to host their special events and private parties. Everyone in our community has their own special memories of dances, class reunions, black-tie affairs, and wedding receptions that were once held here. This stately building, with it’s massive fluted columns at the main entrance, is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Since 2017, the newly renovated first floor of the building has been home to the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, exhibiting internationally known artist’s works with a primary focus on realism. The museum has garnered international attention exhibiting artists such as Alyssa Monks, Margaret Bowland, Eloy Morales, Bo Bartlett, Vincent DeSedario, Ann Gale, and Carmelo Blandino to name a few. It’s also built a permanent collection which grows every year with some of these works on view in the newly remodeled Wausau Club on the second floor.
Whether you’re hosting a weekday luncheon, family reunion, wedding reception, or annual gala, you’ll experience a world-class environment to create beautiful memories for you and your guests.
The second floor ballroom, lounge, and bar will take you back in time with it’s 1900’s Brunswick style backbar finished in quarter sawn oak, as well as the dramatic matching fireplace in the ballroom. Guests can relax in the most comfortable Italian leather club chairs while listening to live music on stage flanked by lush velvet curtains. The warm lighting radiated by magnificent turn-of-the-century crystal chandeliers above the dance floor and elegant wall sconces will set the mood for your special event. This, is The Wausau Club.
The Wausau Club allows you to choose your own caterer for your event with a standing capacity of 330 guests accommodating up to 265 seated. You may also opt to have the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art remain open to enhance your guest’s experience. The museum has a capacity of 211 people.
